Alternative Energy Fuel Source Research & Development Projects

Don't pay for your electricity any longer... |
New energy technology is needed to reduce carbon emissions. Today we do not have energy sources, which can satisfy 100% of power needs without generating greenhouse emissions. Better technologies are needed for immediate, short and long term, in order to control fuel costs. We do not have enough supplies of economical energy substitutes.
To manage the heavy lifting of energy alternatives we need to have a sustained commitment now to research and development in these areas to be able to bring the needed technologies to the market quickly.
To contain and reverse the global warming effect and other global weather changes, we need to deploy technological innovations on a very large scale. A large number of electric power plants, residences, commercial places and vehicles worldwide will have to be retrofitted to work with the new technologies. These are massive changes, which cannot take place overnight. The technical knowledge is either too expensive or simply does not exist in the marketplace.
Science and engineering efforts are required to significantly reduce costs while addressing the need for large-scale deployment of reliable and cost-effective technologies. These improvements will need up-front investment. They will need the governments to put in new regulations encouraging technology innovation and make long-term investments into the technologies.
While almost everyone agrees that innovation in the energy sector needs to be supported, not everyone is in agreement yet of how the investments should be split between different technologies like solar, wind, wave power, geothermal, nuclear, etc. There is however a common understanding and consensus regarding where basic research is required, where innovation can move quickly, and which technologies can be most economically and quickly scaled. One aspect all are in agreement with is that through research, development and deployment. these technologies need to quickly become cost-effective so they can be incorporated into mainstream on a large scale.
There are many reasons, which should drive the transition in US from fossil fuels to greener fuels. The effect on the environment of the green fuel will be much less toxic than that of the fossil fuel. The alternative fuels are efficient sources of energy and are a lot less expensive than fossil fuels. We currently have a heavy dependence on other countries to import our oil. Many of these countries cannot really be considered our allies. The green fuels will reduce our energy dependence on these nations. It is our paramount importance that we invest in the alternative energy technologies now for a safer and more secure future.
The US government has to continue supporting and encouraging the research and development in alternative energy and support increasing its use in homes and commercial places. The government would also help the cause by lending financial support to major initiatives with investment in form of rebate incentives and tax breaks.
All the government bodies, local, federal and state, should work together to further the research and development of alternative energy technologies. It should be made compulsory for new construction for homes or commercial uses to be equipped with alternative energy resources. A similar program should be put in place for all new vehicles being built. The utility companies should be mandated to invest in research and development of alternative energy technologies. Attractive incentives should be given out to companies investing in alternative energy R&D.
